Bugs And Beasts (and many other wonderous things)

Welcome to Bugs and Beasts, originally founded way back in 2007!! Well, I suppose that is not very old, but as far as websites go it is a fair while ago.

My site has gone through various transformations and this is the latest version, which was launched June 2013.

The major sections are beneath, just click on the links or the images. There are already thousands of pages on Bugs and Beasts, and I have a whole lot more to add. So even if you don't find something you like now, please be sure to pop back and see what new goodies I have found.

A little gem of a book, Why Not Eat Insects? was written by Vincent M. Holt & published in 1885. For some strange reason his idea did not really catch on. I wonder why?

Published in the 1880's Robert Chambers' The Book Of Days, is a fascinating mixture of fact, folklore, trivia and old-wives tales. A great book to dip into.

Images from Audubon's Birds Of America. Published 1827 to 1838 it consists of 435 portraits of every bird species known at that time in the United States.

A feast of flowers courtesy of Curtis's Botanical Magazine, which first appeared in 1787. The long running periodical has been in continuous publication ever since!!

Audubon's final work was Viviparous Quadrupeds of North America created in collaboration with Rev John Bachman. It was completed by his sons and published posthumously.
